Unfortunately, unlike optical illusions, we are rarely aware that they were ever there at all, nudging our judgment in one direction or another. Most of these nudges, on their own, are very small and have little effect on our everyday lives. However, they do have the ability to snowball and can cause large lapses of judgment and expensive mistakes – especially at work.

This talk is a fascinating and entertaining introduction to the astonishing world of cognitive biases. Steve Cantwell will open your eyes to how and when we are influenced by them, and the incredible experiments which have demonstrated their power.

Some biases are simply useful to know to aid judgment and decision making. Some are absolutely vital and it may even be mandatory in your country to be trained in them – the ways we are influenced by stereotypes in a job interview for example.

By arming your employees with the knowledge of when they may be affected, they will become more efficient workers, less likely to make mistakes.

Forewarned is forearmed.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][invicta_heading primary_line_html_elem=”h3″ alignment=”left” size=”small” primary_line=”Memory Matters” primary_line_keywords=”Memory Matters” secondary_line=”The phenomenal power and failings of the human memory: how it works and how to use it.” secondary_line_keywords=”phenomenal,human memory, how to use it”][vc_column_text]The human memory is an amazing thing, but it is rarely as reliable as we think it is.

This enthralling talk is all about how memory works, and how it lets us down in ways we don’t expect and, more importantly, don’t realise. We could never remember every detail of an experience so our minds are continuously inventing filler to cover the blank spaces, without us even noticing. Steve Cantwell will teach your delegates to be aware of when this might be happening so that they know when not to rely on memory, and when and how to use aide-memoires and mnemonics.

To that end, Steve Cantwell will also show everyone how to use the best and most effective mnemonics to remember all sorts of lists, facts and details with confidence.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1701″ img_size=”large” css_animation=”right-to-left” img_link_target=”_self” css=”.vc_custom_1520452435512{border-top-width: 5px !important;border-right-width: 5px !important;border-bottom-width: 5px !important;border-left-width: 5px !important;border-left-color: #1004f2 !important;border-left-style: solid !important;border-right-color: #1004f2 !important;border-right-style: solid !important;border-top-color: #1004f2 !important;border-top-style: solid !important;border-bottom-color: #1004f2 !important;border-bottom-style: solid !important;border-radius: 10px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1700″ img_size=”large” alignment=”right” css_animation=”left-to-right” img_link_target=”_self” css=”.vc_custom_1520452664383{border-top-width: 5px !important;border-right-width: 5px !important;border-bottom-width: 5px !important;border-left-width: 5px !important;border-left-color: #1004f2 !important;border-left-style: solid !important;border-right-color: #1004f2 !important;border-right-style: solid !important;border-top-color: #1004f2 !important;border-top-style: solid !important;border-bottom-color: #1004f2 !important;border-bottom-style: solid !important;border-radius: 5px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][invicta_heading primary_line_html_elem=”h3″ alignment=”left” size=”small” primary_line=”Combined Workshop” primary_line_keywords=”Combined Workshop” secondary_line=”Full half day workshop of Bias Beware and Memory Matters” secondary_line_keywords=”Bias Beware,Memory Matters”][vc_column_text]If you have the time for a full half day, this is a superb workshop combining training in cognitive biases and memory.

Plenty of audience interaction and spots of magic will keep your delegates’ enthralled as they learn a huge amount about how the brain works. This isn’t just interesting, but useful, as so much can be applied to life at work and at home.

If you have even more time, Steve Cantwell can also give an amazing demonstration of the apparent power of the human mind with his incredible stage show of psychological magic.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1520190133726{margin-top: 50px !important;}”][invicta_heading primary_line=”What could happen if you hire Steve Cantwell to give a talk to your employees…” primary_line_keywords=”could,Steve Cantwell”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][siteorigin_widget_vc so_widget_data=”{"widget_class":"SiteOrigin_Widget_Video_Widget","widget_data":{"title":"","host_type":"self","video":{"self_sources":[{"self_video":19,"self_video_fallback":""}],"self_poster":0,"external_video":"","so_field_container_state":"open"},"playback":{"autoplay":false,"oembed":true,"related_videos":true,"so_field_container_state":"open"},"_sow_form_id":"8209220515ae0878bd8712928919085","_sow_form_timestamp":"1524664219712"}}”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1520190152997{margin-top: 50px !important;}”][invicta_heading primary_line_html_elem=”h3″ primary_line=”A Few Testimonials” primary_line_keywords=”Testimonials” secondary_line=”Here’s what past clients have said about Steve Cantwell’s talks.”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][invicta_testimonial author_name=”GFT” author_country=”gb” css_animation=”appear”]The one word that best describes Steve Cantwell’s performance is Phenomenal! His performance helped make our Annual Offsite dinner a huge success. We wanted something ‘unique’ and were delighted to find an extremely talented individual, who was tremendously skilled, intelligent, humorous, and also presents a show that fits our professional standard.

Steve delivered a combination of training on cognitive bias and magic tricks around the dinner table, he left the group feeling inspired and blown away by the overall jaw dropping act. A perfect mood was set by Steve for the remainder of a brilliant evening, which we were really grateful for. Steve’s act would be perfect for any business or private events- it was truly perfect and was exactly what we were looking for.[/invicta_testimonial][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][invicta_testimonial author_name=”Disability Initiative” author_country=”gb” css_animation=”appear”]Thank you so much for attending our Carer Evening. All our carers found your presentation on Memory skills and Cognitive Bias extremely interesting and also very helpful and relevant to their personal experiences. We were all impressed with the card trick and despite now realising that you probably have some cognitive technique that you use when performing the trick we all agree that it was real magic. We haven’t stopped talking about it since the evening![/invicta_testimonial][invicta_testimonial author_name=”Rushmoor Inner Wheel” author_country=”gb” css_animation=”appear”]Our members thoroughly enjoyed your talk which kept us captivated throughout. Your presentation was excellent – eloquent, confident and, at times, humorous, and the audience participation added to the overall interest.

We learned many fascinating facts about our brains and our memories. The content of the talk was thought-provoking as it challenged our powers of observation, and demonstrated how easily our decisions – and, somewhat worryingly, those of people in positions of power – can be influenced and manipulated.

Some have already read and enjoyed your book entitled “Bias Beware” and we look forward to publication of your forthcoming book about Memory.

We would have no hesitation in recommending you as a speaker to any organisation seeking an informative and absorbing talk about an intriguing subject.[/invicta_testimonial][/vc_column][/vc_row]
